Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah reviews progress of Jal Jeevan Mission

GUWAHATI: To ensure the smooth progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), PHED Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah reviewed its progress at a meeting with DPR Consultants and TPI agencies at PHED Chief Engineers Office (Water) today.

In the first meeting, the minister interacted with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) consultancy firms and asked them to brief him on the final list of DPRs submitted against the number of schemes. He asked the consultancy firms to apprise him of the schemes to be dropped for land problems or following their merger with other schemes. He inspected the cost per FHTC in all PHED divisions.

The minister said that he would take up the land issues with the deputy commissioners and local MLAs and resolve them quickly.

At the second meeting, the minister interacted with the Third Party Inspection (TPI) agencies. TPI agencies ensure the quality and progress of work. He instructed the agencies to keep adequate manpower to achieve desired results in a time-bound manner.

The minister also listened to the grievances of the consultants and agencies and assured them to resolve the issues immediately and expedite the progress of the Prime Minister's vision of 'Har Ghar Jal' within a stipulated time.

Special PHED Secretary Biswadeep Das and PHED Chief Engineer Diptendu Talukdar were present at the meeting along with other senior officials of the department.
