Minister Pijush Hazarika visits school for specially-abled students at Kahilipara

GUWAHATI: State Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Pijush Hazarika on Tuesday visited the Government BDS Deaf and Dumb School at Kahilipara and took stock of the infrastructural needs of the school.

The minister inspected the classrooms, computer rooms, both boys' and girls' hostels and asked the school management to keep the campus clean and favourable for the students. Feeling the necessity of more number of hostels, the minister asked the officials of the Social Justice and Empowerment department to look after the matter and process for construction of two hostel buildings for girls and boys respectively. During the visit, the minister tried to talk to the students with the help of the teachers. Around 450 students from different parts of the State are presently studying in the school.

The minister later told media persons that the government would do everything for the specially-abled students of the State. He also said that after taking the charge of the department, he had been trying to understand the department procedures and visiting various educational and other institutions under the department. He also asked the management of all such institutions to keep the environment clean.
