Ministry of Railways Launch ‘Digital Museum at Stations’

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 3: The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has recently launched a pilot scheme, ‘Digital Museum at Stations’ under ‘A Digital India-Digital Rail initiative’ across 22 railway stations of the country where true-colour digital multimedia screens are already available. With this initiative, the railway passengers can digitally access the facets of India’s rail heritage by scanning the quick response (QR) code. In this regard, a communiqué of the Ministry of Railways said, “There is no need to invest in and develop more railway museums. Digital Museums can be created on the walls of the station depicting the history and current developments by use of appropriate technology including QR.”

Presently, the initiative has been implemented in three railway stations of the NFR – Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri Jn and Kathihar Jn.
