GUWAHATI: Mission Basundhara 2.0 has evoked a poor response in some revenue circles of the State. While the last date for submission of applications under Mission Basundhara 2.0 is March 31, the number of applications received in some revenue circles is less than expected. To understand the reason behind this poor response, State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan and senior officers of the department have been visiting these revenue circles. On Thursday, the minister and other officers of the department visited Kamalpur LAC in the Kamrup district and interacted with the revenue officials, local people and mandals. The minister laid stress on creating awareness about Mission Basundhara 2.0 among the people as applications related to land issues will be disposed of on a mission mode under Mission Basundhara 2.0. Later talking to The Sentinel, minister Jogen Mohan said, "The response has not been as expected in some revenue circles. However, till date a total of 5.15 lakh applications have been received across the State under Mission Basundhara 2.0."

He further said, "Mandals have been instructed not to harass people while disposing of the applications. It is only when the indigenous people get their land rights that the community can be strengthened."

After the success of Mission Basundhara, the Assam Government launched Mission Basundhara 2.0 on November 14, 2022. Under Mission Basundhara 2.0, a total of eight services would be provided to the public in digital mode. The new services under Mission Basundhara 2.0 are the settlement of government khas and ceiling surplus land, conferring ownership rights to occupancy tenants, settlement of transferred annual patta land, settlement of village grazing reserve and professional grazing reserve, settlement of land for indigenous special cultivators, settlement of hereditary land of tribal communities, composite land transfer service and online payment of land revenue.
