Mithun Das Receives Accolades From DGP Kuladhar Saikia

GUWAHATI: Basistha police station traffic constable number 447 Mithun Das has received accolades from State DGP Kuladhar Saikia for going above and beyond the call of duty at Basistha traffic point in Guwahati on Sunday. On the sidelines of the media briefing on Monday at the Assam Police headquarters, the DGP congratulated Mithun Das for the degree of respect he had shown to his duty when the situation was fraught with the risk of danger. “We feel proud of him.” Guwahati city was badly lashed by a thunderstorm at noon on Sunday when people were seen running helter-skelter for cover. The thunderstorm, together with lightning, made people to run for safety. However, Mithun Das – traffic constable number 447 hailing from Karbi Anglong – was seen standing on the roofless traffic point at Basistha Chariali, and doing his duty. He was thoroughly drenched yet he kept doing his duty, risking his life.
