STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: In what may be seen as good news for highly-educated unemployed youths of the State, the recruitment process for appointment to more than 900 posts of assistant professors in colleges across the State has started. This is perhaps for the first time that more than 900 posts will be filled up at one go.

Recently, the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam, had sought data from colleges across the State about the number of posts of teachers lying vacant in the colleges. It was found that there are more than 900 posts of assistant professors lying vacant in different colleges across the State. The Directorate of Higher Education instructed the colleges to publish advertisements inviting applications from eligible candidates to fill up the posts. The colleges have been further instructed to complete the interview process by March 31, 2022, and to submit the results of the interview process to the Directorate of Higher Education. The Directorate will then examine the results and give appointments.

The interview will be conducted by the governing body of the respective colleges as per the guidelines of the State Government. Some colleges have already started publishing advertisements for the vacant posts. The appointment of eligible candidates to more than 900 posts of assistant professors will be part of the State Government's commitment to providing 1 lakh government jobs.
