GUWAHATI: Various Muslim organizations across the State have issued guidelines for observing fast during the month of Ramzan, which is set to begin on April 23, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The bodies have appealed the people to have their sehri (meal before sunrise) and iftar (evening meal to end fast) at home and also offer Tarabi Namaz (evening prayer) from within their houses only.

Assam Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi greeted the people of Assam belonging to Mohammedan Community on the occasion. In a message on Friday, Prof. Mukhi said, “My warm greetings to the Muslim brethren of Assam and North East on the occasion of Ramzan. Ramadan is a month for the Muslim community to observe dawn to dusk fast to cleanse the soul and come closer to God (Allah)”.

He also said, “May this holy month of Ramzan bind us all together and spread peace, harmony and brotherhood in our state and our nation”.
