Nagarik Samaj Asks High-Level Committee To Resign

GUWAHATI: The ‘Nagarik Samaj’ in a press meet on Wednesday said, “All the members of High-Level Committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord on January 5 should resign.” The committee is headed by retired IAS officer MP Bezbarauah which includes Subhash Das (Retired IAS), Nagen Saikia (Former Assam Sahitya Sabha president), Dhiren Bezbaruah, Mukunda Rajbangshi, Ramesh Borpatragohain, Rongbong Terang (Former Assam Sahitya Sabha president), one representative of AASU and a Joint Secretary of MHA. AASU had already cleared their hands off the committee and the Nagarik Samaj has stated that other members should also resign as the committee will not bear any fruit. “The committee is just a veil by the Central Government to suppress the matter”, they speculated.
