Namami Brahmaputra Festival a Wasteful Expenditure: MLA Atul Bora

Staff Reporter

Guwahati: Dispur MLA Atul Bora of the BJP is continuing with his criticism of the BJP-led Government in Assam. Going all hammer and tongs against the state Government, Bora said that the holding of the Namami Brahmaputra Festival by Dispur was a sheer waste of money from the state exchequer.

He is of the view that the crores spent in holding the fest could have been used for developmental works. He added that the money could have been used to purchase a few ferries for transportation of people across the Brahmaputra.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function in the city on Thursday, Bora said, “I shall never hesitate in criticizing the State government in public interest. I could not care less even if I am thrown out of the party by way of punishment for speaking against the party. Namami Brahmaputra Festival was a wasteful expenditure of public money. The amount spent could have been judiciously used for development purposes like purchasing a few ferries for the convenience of those passengers making way across the Brahmaputra every day.”
