National Accolade for Assam Teacher

GUWAHATI: Remya Parameswar Iyer (PGT Biotech) of Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara has been awarded KVS National Incentive award 2018 for her innovative contributions and holistic approach towards the students. The ceremony was held at Bhim auditorium, Dr. Ambedkar International centre in Delhi on December 15, 2018. KVS National Incentive award carries an amount of 25000 (twenty-five thousand rupees) + shawl + memento and a certificate. Iyer was the only candidate in the entire North East region who has been selected for this prestigious award and has topped the list of teachers selected all over various KVS regions in the country.

This time KVS had revised its scheme of KVS incentive award with effect from 2018 on the line of National Awards for teachers (Presidential Award) and there was a paradigm shift from the past practice of submission of offline nominations for KVS incentive awards to online mode to ensure complete transparency, fairness and accessibility to all. Nominations submitted by the candidates were evaluated by the Independent Juries both at the regional and National levels on the objective parameters for 100 marks. All proposals were evaluated by the Regional level jury on the basis of proposals, audio-video materials and PowerPoint presentation given by the employee before the jury. The top candidates after Regional level screening was forwarded to National level jury .Nominated candidates were asked to give presentation again before the National jury for the final selection. In total, there were 30 awards of which 25 were for teaching and five were for non teaching staff.

Remya Iyer has shown exceptional talent and meticulous diligence over the last decade. Under her guidance and mentorship, students won various prestigious awards like Presidents Award for exceptional achievements, Inspire award, State Balshree award and Alumni award. She has been an effective Resource person for various in-service courses and has been instrumental in getting (BLiSS) grant of ten lakh and Fold scope grant of four lakh from Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology in 2015 and 2018 respectively.
