National webinar held on Assamese literary criticism

GUWAHATI: With an interest to cope up with the literary criticism of world literature and its latest trends the literary and socio-research magazine Swarnalipi, as a part of its 11th year celebration, has organized a two-day national webinar on "Theories of Literary Criticism and Trends in Assamese Literary Criticism" from October 10, 2020.

During the sessions two eminent Assamese critics Dr. Ananda Bormudoi, former Professor of English at Dibrugarh University and Dr. Bibhas Choudhury, Professor of English at Gauhati University, will deliver two important talks while the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jayanta Kumar Bora, Professor of Assamese at Dibrugarh University. Dr Anurag Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor of English at Dibrugarh University, Ms. Gitali Saikia, Assistant Professor of English at Hemchandra Debgoswami College, Sivasagar and Mr. Arindom Borkotoky, Assistant Professor of English at Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College, Nagaon will be the resource persons of the webinar. The academic sessions will be conducted by Hridayananda Gogoi, editor of Swarnalipi and renowned critic Sahityacharya Dr. Parag Kumar Bhattacharyya will chair the inauguration and Dr. Neeva Rani Phukan, Associate Professor of Assamese, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University and Dr. Jyotirekha Hazarika, Associate Professor of Assamese, Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat will chair the academic sessions.

The participants can submit their research papers on the main theme as above and divulge upon sub-themes like criticisms based on socialism, Marxism, colonialism, existentialism, aesthetics, post-modernism, magic-realism, marginalized-groups, gender-studies and eco-critical-studies etc. The last date for registration is September 20, 2020, a press release said.
