NCB Guwahati Arrested Drug Peddlers Near Khanapara Flyover Bridge

GUWAHATI: Acting on specific information, developed in due course of time, on Sunday NCB Guwahati intercepted a Maruti swift car (white) bearing registration No AS-01DY 8873, which was coming from Imphal to Guwahati to facilitate two associates along with illicit drugs, which was likely to go to Malda, West Bengal. NCB officials intercepted the vehicle near Khanapara Flyover Bridge NH-37 towards Basistha side. During the general search, no contraband was found initially. But on reasonable belief and based on the specific input developed on information, the car was brought to a garage, when the dash board of the car was removed, a packet wrapped with yellow coloured cello tape was found hidden inside the dash board of vehicle. On opening the same, two black colour polythene were found, in which "WY" and "R" logos tablets (Methamphetamine) were kept, quantity of which was found to be 953 grams.

On questioning, the apprehended persons revealed that the consignment was received from Moreh (Myanmar) through an agent and was destined to Malda, West Bengal to a consigner. It was also learnt that the trade of illegal drug of WY known as 'World is Your' is rapidly increasing. As per seizure details of last few months, most of the pills are made in make shift labs in the border regions of Myanmar. The reason behind the soaring popularity of 'WY" (Methamphetamine) is the users also get involved in selling it as in multi-level marketing and its increasing internal and external demand. The four were arrested under NDPS Act, illicit drugs and vehicles were seized. Two persons were from Manipur and two persons were from West Bengal. Further investigations are being made.
