NDFB (S) linkman bbed in Chirang

GUWAHATI, May 16: In two separate joint operations launched by Army in conjunction with Police in Chirang district today , two NDFB (S) over ground workers were apprehended, Army sources said. In the first operation, an NDFB (S) over ground workers identified as Chakra Brahma was apprehended from area Kusumdisha. Army sources said the apprehended individual has been actively supporting NDFB(S) rebels. He has confessed on providing food, ration and guiding approximately 35-40 militants across AI River in Chirang district , who were on the run after their major camp was busted by security forces in Kokrajhar district on May 7. He also confessed of being paid Rs 5000 by Birbai, a hardcore National Democratic Front of Boroland(S) rebel for this assistance. In a second operation, an NDFB(S) over ground worker identified as Thepa Basumatary was apprehended from general area Burijhar. He has been extensively involved in extorting money from local population, added an Army official.
