NDRF provides ration to stranded labourers during lockdown in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The lockdown measures, for containment of COVID-19 pandemic in country extended up to May 3. During the lockdown, the movement of the common public is restricted and at times they require assistance. Being a humanitarian force of the country, NDRF endeavour to mitigate the sufferings of community during any calamity. The NDRFs, ‘Helping Hand’ Desk, with helpline Number (9711077372) as well as Email id “ndrf-helping@gov.in” and twitter handle of NDRF (@ndrfhq) has been reiterated/ reactivated for COVID-19 related help. Soon after the activation of the helpline, distress calls are being received frequently which is being shared with the NDRF Battalions.

Responding upon a distress call received on April 17 at 6 pm from Rajiv Ranjan, a Labourer of Bihar who was stranded along with other 19 Labourers in Sivasagar, and was running out of ration and food. Control room 1st NDRF responded to the call received from “Helping Hand” desk of NDRF HQ and immediately co-ordinated with District administration and Circle Officer of Sivasagar and arranged ration for the stranded labours within two hours.
