NDRF Training on Disaster Management in Guwahati from November 4 

GUWAHATI: A disaster management training (5th Batch) for six days from November 4 to 9, 2019 is started and 60 NYKS volunteers are attending the same at Patgaon, Guwahati. Under the supervision and guidance of Director General NDRF, IPS, SN Pradhan, a team of qualified instructors of 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force located in Guwahati will train them in all aspects of disaster management. The subjects being covered during the training are medical first responder, collapsed structure search & rescue, rope rescue, water rescue, fire fighting and on-sight management of disasters etc.

As a part of 100 days agenda of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NYKS in collaboration with NDRF is going to train a force of youth volunteers associated with youth clubs that can play a pivotal role in immediate response to any disaster. It is proposed to establish an institutional mechanism for organized and structured engagement of NYKS by creating block level disaster response teams of volunteers as first responders in hazard-prone districts. 450 persons of District -Dhubri, Assam, 300 persons of Tripura, 300 persons of Meghalaya and 60 persons of Mizoram will be trained up to March 2020 by 1st Battalion NDRF Guwahati, Assam.

According to a press release, Dy. Commandant, 1st Bn NDRF, Anil Chauhan said, “Reducing losses through disaster response training initiatives targeted at developing expert and accountable disaster responders, which is our top priority for disaster risk reduction with integrated development milestones in disaster management.”
