NERAMAC offers help to Sikkim farmers amidst COVID-19 pandemic

GUWAHATI: During this pandemic situation, a marketing team from the Sikkim zonal office of NERAMAC (North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation) Limited has helped the farmers of Heegaon in West Sikkim by procuring 1.8 MT of large cardamom (ceremna variety) and also facilitating them to sell the produce in the Siliguri Market which is the largest market near Sikkim for large cardamom. NERAMAC has also obtained the GI certificate for the large cardamom of Sikkim. NERAMAC has its retail outlets within North East selling processed and value-added products produced by the local entrepreneurs of the north-eastern region.

NERAMAC, under the Ministry of DoNER, has been focusing on improving the condition of farmers of the north-eastern region by providing them a platform to disburse their produces at a fair and reasonable price at the market, stated a release.
