New committee formed for Uzanbazar Barowari Durga Puja Mandap in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The general meeting of the Uzanbazar Barowari Durga Puja Mandap was organized on Sunday evening under the presidency of Bhaben Bez at the temple premises.

The gathering elected a total of 21 members, with Badal Thakur as the chief advisor, Ratul Das as an advisor, Pulock Goswami as president, and Satyabrat Goswami as general secretary for the next three years. Swapan Bora, Bhaben Bez, Ranju Goswami, Dilip Lekharu, and Ruby Thakur were named vice presidents; Taranga Sharma and Ratul Goswami were joint secretaries; Pawan Chakrabarty was the office secretary; Paresh Baruah was the treasurer and 10 more members formed the executive body of the committee.

Before the formation of the new committee, the old one, with Badal Thakur as president and Ranju Goswami as general secretary, formally resigned from their positions. The gathering paid their respects to the members and their relatives who had passed away in the past few months by keeping a minute’s silence. Taking responsibility as the new president, Pulock Goswami asked for the support of all the members for the smooth conduct of the regular affairs of the committee.
