GUWAHATI: Assam CM Hemanta Biswa Sharma announced the construction of new 2 lane flyover connecting R.G Baruah road to Geetanagar in Guwahati, on the inauguration of the Super Market flyover on 4th November 2021.

It will be constructed in the tri junction and is in the planning stage for now as of the announcement.

On 4th November the CM of Assam inaugurated the Supermarket Flyover in Dispur after being completed in 36 months. 1205 meters in length, the flyover has been constructed with an aim to reduce congestion at the Supermarket by diverting traffic from Ganeshguri to Last Gate. The flyover has been constructed at a cost of Rs 127.20. The new bridge will make hassle-free traffic movement from Khanapara to Ganeshguri. It will also reduce traffic congestion on Paltan Bazar end of Supermarket junction on GS Road by almost 80 per cent.

Opening the flyover for the general public, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The flyover is now open for public and I request everyone not to spit on the newly constructed bridge. The artists have made a great effort to make the bridge a beautiful one with their paintings. Please do not ruin their effort."

It may be mentioned here that spit stains of paan-gutka were sighted on the flyover yesterday, angering netizens who slammed the people for showing disrespect towards public property. Further, the Public Works Department (PWD) has asked Guwahati Police to look into the spitting incident which occurred just ahead of the inauguration.
