GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at the benefitting farmers and transporters of the northeastern region, the NFR (Northeast Frontier Railways) has decided to run more 'Kisan Rail' trains for the transportation of potatoes. These Kisan Rail trains — with two trips each — will run from Dhupguri to Agartala, Falakata to Agartala, Falakata to Dimapur, Dhupguri to New Tinsukia and also from Changrabandha to Agartala.

The Dhupguri-Agartala Kisan Rail will run on April 11 and 21, leaving Dhupguri at 16:30 hours to reach Agartala at 21:00 hours on April 12 and 22 respectively. The train will have stoppages at Salbari, Falakata, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.

The Falakata-Agartala Kisan Rail will run on April 13 and 23, leaving Falakata at 16:30 hours to reach Agartala at 21:00 hrs on April 14 and 24 respectively. The train will have stoppages at New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati,

Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.

The Falakata-Dimapur Kisan Rail will run on April 15 and 25, leaving from Falakata at 16:30 hours to reach Dimapur at 10:00 hours on April 16 and 26 respectively. The train will have stoppages at New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon and Guwahati

Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.

The Dhupguri-New Tinsukia Kisan Rail will run via the Bogibeel Bridge on April 17 and 30, leaving Dhupguri at 16:30 hours to reach New Tinsukia at 14:00 hours on April 18 and 30 respectively. The train will have stoppages at Salbari, Falakata, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya, Rangapara North and New Sisiborgaon Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.

The Changrabandha-Agartala Kisan Rail will run on April 19 and 29, leaving Changrabandha at 16:00 hours to reach Agartala at 21:00 hours on April 20 and 30 respectively. The train will have stoppages at Mathabhanga, New Coochbehar, New

Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.

It may be mentioned here that as per the announcement made in the Union Budget 2020-21, the Indian Railways has started running the 'Kisan Rail' train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish.

The Kisan Rails are multi-commodity, multi-consignor/consignee, multi-loading/unloading transportation solution which is aimed at providing wider market to our Kisans. Commodities which may be transported via

Kisan Rail are tea, rubber, turmeric, black pepper, mustard, soyabean, betel nut, oranges, pineapple, ginger, kiwi, passion fruit, chillies (green), large cardamom and other fruits besides vegetables.

The primary objective of running the 'Kisan Rail' trains is to increase income of farmers and entrepreneurs in the Farm sector by connecting the production centres to thr markets and consumption centres. It is expected that with the operation of these Kisan Rails, consignors/farmers will get benefitted, stated a release.
