GUWAHATI: The NGO Raahein started an initiative to impart education to children in economically weaker sections of society. The NGO started their education programme at Bonda Anchalik High School, Guwahati, by organising an art competition on Saturday.

They give much priority to underprivileged government schools in which there is a lack of infrastructure, teachers, and other education facilities. Their main motive is to encourage children to pursue education, with which they may create a stable career for themselves.

Founder and President of Raahein, Dipraj Chakrabarty, said that the child education programme is basically three months in every government school. Also, our education programme is based on various curricula that will help them in the future. They also don't need to take any tuition for the subjects that are taught in class because every Saturday, members of Raahein conduct doubt-clearing sessions in the schools."

In the education programme, they have included basic computer skills, which can help them with daily computer tasks and will help them in their higher studies. Self-defence for girls, which is a common need for girls to protect themselves in difficult situations, has also been included with sex education from class 5 to class 10, so that they know about the basic knowledge that every teenager needs in terms of sex education.
