Niti Aayog highlights health rider

GUWAHATI, May 18: In an interactive session on the National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS) and Ayushman Bharat here in Guwahati on Friday, Niti Aayog member Dr Vinod Paul highlighted that an addition with the NHPS will address the health issues in the primary and secondary system. Paul shared that in a public private partnership (PPP) mode, under this new rider, a family can access an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. According to socio-economic caste census (SECC) data, around 40% people will get this opportunity, he stressed. Informing that the private sectors will play a pivotal role in discharging the benefits, Paul said that more than 13,000 packages and cashless services will be provided to the beneficiaries under this new initiative. Categorically, the people of north east will be highly benefitted and the Centre will emphasize a wider reach in this region, he added.
