North-East Frontier Railway Detects 159 Ticketless Cases, Rs. 44,626 Realised

GUWAHATI: A special ticket checking drive was conducted by the Vigilance Department of NF Railway jointly with Commercial Department from August 20 to August 22 by Kanchanjhungha exp (onboard) from Guwahati to Agartala and fortress check at Agartala station of all UP and DN trains to facilitate genuine passenger and to curb the ticketless traveller. During the check, 159 cases of without ticket, improper ticket and traveling with un-booked luggage were detected and an amount of Rs 40,805/- was realized, an NFR release stated. In addition to the above overcharging of packaged drinking water and underweight charging in the parcel, the consignment was also detected at Guwahati, Lumding and Agartala station for which penalty of Rs. 3, 821/- was realised. So total amount for Rs. 44,626/- recovered as railway earnings, the release added.
