GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway has been constantly progressing in freight loading and has loaded 0.957 million tonnes (MT) during the month of February. N. F. Railway has also loaded 10.807 MT from April 2022 to February 2023 of this financial year. This is an increase of 17.7 percent as compared to the loading of 9.183 MT during the corresponding period of the previous year. During the month of February 2023, coal loading increased by 4.8 percent, and loading of a few other commodities also increased by a good margin in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. During the month, food grain loading increased by 42.3 percent, container loading increased by 37.5 percent, and dolomite loading increased by 9.4 percent.

During the current financial year from April, 2022, to February, 2023, coal loading increased by 332 percent and dolomite loading increased by 10.1 percent in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. Fertilizer loading increased by 11.6 percent. POL loading increased by 12.1 percent, container loading increased by 13.1 percent, and other commodities increased by 17 percent. Alipurduar Division, for the first time ever, has generated goods revenue of more than Rs. 300 crores during the current financial year. Moreover, Katihar, Lumding, Tinsukia, and Rangiya divisions have also generated Rs. 322 crore, Rs. 278 crore, Rs. 230 crore, and Rs. 216 crore, respectively, as goods revenue during the current financial year. The increase in freight loading and unloading signifies the economic activities of the region, stated a press release.
