GUWAHATI: Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is organizing the North-East Regional CSR Conclave - 2019, on February 22, 2019 at Guwahati, Assam with the support of Oil India Limited and Airport Authority of India. After the successful previous editions in the year 2014, 2015 and 2016, which helped in increased awareness regarding utility of Corporate Social Responsibility, Companies ACT & Review, also created a platform for exchange of ideas on the subject, this conclave is the fourth edition.
The inaugural session was attended by Rajiv Kr Bora, Additional Chief Secretary, Transformation and Development, Government of Assam. Bora in his inaugural speech intimated regarding the seven inspirational districts, selected from Assam among the 117 districts of the entire country. The Darrang, Dhubri, Barpeta, Goalpara, Baksa, Udalguri and Hailakandi are the seven districts selected as aspiration districts in the state, he informed. “The Aspiration Districts programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an opportunity for us to rapidly develop the districts lagging behind in key development indicators.” Bora suggested to the attendee Corporate and PSUs namely Oil Indian Limited, Airport Authority of India, IOCL, NRL, Cements Companies and others to adhere to the norms of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to implement their respective CSR. Post his delivery, Bora also opened the house for interaction with the delegates present.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by D K Manavalan, Retired IAS, Executive Director, AFPRO. Manavalan briefed the forum on the various aspects about CSR, how it came into being and its opportunities and challenges. The Dias was also shared by Arjun Deb, Member, ICC North-East Chapter and Director, Prag Electricals and Ishantor Sobhapandit, Regional Director of ICC-NE and Joint Director of ICC.
