Notorious bike lifter shot at while trying to flee in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A notorious bike lifter was allegedly shot at by police while trying to flee from police custody.
The incident took place when Kamrup Police were taking notorious bike lifter Nekibur Rahman alias Nukur to Dokhola under Palasbari PS on Sunday to show a hideout. Kamrup Superintendent of Police Hitesh Chandra Ray said that Nekibur snatched the pistol of an ASI and tried to flee. He was warned by the police personnel but he did not pay any heed to the warnings and in fact pointed the pistol towards the police personnel. The police were then compelled to fire one round. Nekibur sustained bullet injury in the leg. He was admitted at Mirza PHC and later referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The SP said that there are seven cases registered against Nekibur in Kamrup, Kamrup (metro) and Goalpara districts. He was an accomplice of notorious dacoit Boga who was arrested some days ago in Palasbari.
