NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) Will Burn A Hole In The Country’s Economy: BJP

GUWAHATI: The minimum income guarantee initiative, NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana), where Congress declared that the party would provide a minimum income to the poor if it came to power in upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has been thoroughly criticized by The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The saffron party has prophesized that the scheme will burn a hole in the country’s economy.

BJP Assam Pradesh stated that the scheme is steeped in corruption and is lacking in proper planning. “Congress has no issues against our Prime Minister Modi and BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The party is lacking in policies and ideologies required for the development of the nation and its people. The NYAY scheme of Rs 72,000 to be provided to 5 crore of the poorest families of the country, will burn a hole in the economy. It will incur an expenditure of 13 percent of the total national budget, which ultimately will put a stopper in the country’s development along with the work culture getting hugely affected.”

The Leader of the opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, hailed the announcement made by the AICC President, Rahul Gandhi that if elected to power at the Centre the Congress would implement a Minimum Income Guarantee (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) scheme under which poor families will receive an allowance of Rs 72,000 per annum.

“This historic scheme will ensure that each family with a monthly income of less than Rs 12,000 receives Rs 6,000 per month and it will benefit around five crore families and around twenty-five crore people in all. Saikia said that the Narendra Modi government has hoodwinked people after making promises like depositing Rs 15 lakh in each person’s bank account, reviving the two sick paper mills of Assam and the like. On the other hand, Mr. Rahul Gandhi has already proved himself to be a man of his word by waiving the bank loans of farmers in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh immediately after coming to power in these states and also foiling passage of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Rajya Sabha.”

Saikia stressed that the Congress has had the enviable record of introducing welfare schemes to ensure food security, subsidized goods and services, minimum guaranteed workdays for rural people etc. Now, under the able leadership of Rahul Gandhi a golden era of poverty alleviation will dawn in the country, the Leader of the Opposition added.
