One Arrested In Guwahati's Double Murder Case

GUWAHATI: One of the four persons who have been detained in connection to the spine chilling murder of an elderly couple on Tuesday morning at their Beltola residence has been arrested by Guwahati police.

According to reports, one of the detainees Akash Choudhury, the caretaker of the elderly couple, has been arrested.

Besides, two other suspects Satyendra Singh and Paresh Choudhury have been detained for interrogation. Singh was present at the victims' residence on Monday night.

The deceased elderly couple identified as Noni Gopal Baruah (87) and Mina Baruah (76) were residents of Guwahati's Chandan Nagar area, Survey in Beltola.

Sources said that the thieves entered the house through a broken window and so many things were looted. The bodies were found in the bed and a sharp weapon was reportedly used to kill them.

When the caretaker went to the house to serve the elderly couple breakfast, found the dead bodies of the duo.

The elderly couple is survived by two daughters who use to live outside the state.
