GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development (DCCD), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Cochin organized a one-day seminar on Cocoa Production and Processing Technologies in the Nartap Gram Panchayat Community Hall in Dimoria. North East Organic and Tetelia Agro Organic Producer Company Ltd. also supported the event.
Around 200 farmers from different villages under the Dimoria Development Block took part in this event. The key idea of the seminar was to make Dimoria the Chocolate Block of the state by undertaking large-scale cocoa cultivation in the region.
The Director of DCCD was also present for the meeting and shared the mission, vision and aim for cocoa cultivation in the region. Officials of Assam’s Agriculture Department gave assurance of supporting the farmers of the region in this regard. North East Organic also plans to include around 5000 cocoa farmers in the coming years.
