One detained over the death of minor girl in Kharghuli, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The body of an 11-year-old girl was recovered floating in Brahmaputra waters at Jaypur in Kharghuli area on Thursday, which created a commotion in the area with locals creating uproar over the incident. Many suspected foul play and alleged rape and murder. The pandemonium continued on Friday and a group of more than 150 women gathered in a protest demanding justice for the unfortunate child. A few objects like a bottle of liquor, a t-shirt and a scandal of the minor was discovered near the spot where the body was found. Injury marks were also found on the face of the minor. Latasil police have detained one Madan Kumar for questioning.
