One held for assaulting transgenders in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A fight broke out between a group of transgender people and a pimp in the Paltan Bazar area here on Tuesday, resulting in several people sustaining injuries. Police sources said that the pimp, one Subratra Kumar Dey, attacked and injured several transgender people with a knife. Meanwhile, the police arrested Dey for initiating the brawl and attacking others. Dey was produced in court and has been remanded to judicial custody. A case (466/22 US 294/326/341/392 PIC) has been registered at the Paltan Bazar police station in this connection.
