Onion at Rs 35 per kg through fair price shops during festive season

GUWAHATI: The State government has decided to sell onion at Rs 35 per kg through fair price shops so as to give consumers a succour during the festive season. In the open market onion is sold at Rs 70-80 per kg in Guwahati now. Talking to The Sentinel, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, "Onion stocks have already been sent to the fair price shops in some districts, including Kamrup (M), for sale during the Durga Puja. This move will let people buy onion at a cheaper rate. Such sale of onion through fair price shops will continue till November 2020."
