Outburst of resentment at Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) headquarters in Guwahati

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Serious resentment is prevailing among the grassroots workers and leaders of the AGP against party leaders Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Phani Bhusan Choudhury for continuing as ministers in the Sarbananda Sonowal Government even after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill became a law.

Expression of such resentments on Thursday a section of leaders of the Guwahati city unit of the AGP stormed into the party headquarters at Ambari here and held a meeting at the basement area of the building. Jiten Deka, president of the city unit of the AGP, conducted the meeting.

The leaders and workers at the meeting said that at a time when the entire Assam is witnessing massive protests against the CAA, the AGP’s stand on the contentious legislation has become mysterious due to continuation of Bora, Mahanta and Choudhury as ministers. The meeting demanded resignation of three ministers. The meeting also strongly criticized AGP MP Birendra Prasad Baishya for voting in favour of the CAB in the Rajya Sabha.
