Patient Alleges Against Doctor For Botching Up Nose Treatment

GUWAHATI: Patients hand over their complete trust when it comes to doctors and a botch up can ruin their lives devastatingly. Such a case was brought to light in a press meet in Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday.

An Assam Engineering College student has pinned allegations on a doctor of Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) Dibrugarh. The student Shyam Sundar Gupta has accused the doctor of misdiagnosing his nose infection. “I was distressed by an infection at my nose tip. This doctor, who is a plastic surgeon at AMCH, injected something on my nose which resulted in necrosis and it turned black and bulbous. My face was disfigured and I suffered much mental and physical agony”, the angry student raged.”

Having to undergo five reconstructive surgeries in Chennai, costing him lakhs of rupees due to the sheer negligence on the part of the doctor, as well as having to lose out on an academic year, Shyam has written to the Medical Council of India (MCI) to take some action against the said doctor along with filing a case with the Assam State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
