Pay-and-use electronic toilets in city

GUWAHATI, May 16: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is going to launch two electronic toilets, one for male and the other for female, in the Maligaon area of the city tomorrow. GMC additiol commissioner DR Rajbangshi said that Public Health Engineering Minister Sukur Ali Ahmed would iugurate the toilets.

Rajbangshi said: "The two toilets will be under bio-digester system with electronic buttons to open the door, push the flush and clean the toilet after use. A user needs to put a coin in the system placed outside the toilet. Users can use the old one-rupee coin or the new two-rupee coin as the system depends on the weight of the coin."

Rajbangshi also said: "This is launched for the first time in the Northeast. Earlier this system was successful in places like Hyderabad and Bangalore."
