STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The post office has long been regarded as one of the oldest and most trusted government offices in the State. Catering to a wider public, the service of the post office in Beltola is now under question. Complaints of rude behaviour and a shortage of staff have been raised. One customer said, “I have been coming continuously since the past two years and the service has always been so slow that I have to wait at least five hours every time.” Another customer, Kanteswar Kalita who is an account holder and has three savings account in the office, complained “Every employee is very rude and is reluctant to help. They would make me wait for long hours stating that they are short staffed and this has become a regular for me.” Some people have also alleged that they never received any postal service as the postman is always “out-of-station” when enquired and they had to go there in person to receive their postage. “This has become a menace and the problem needs to be addressed immediately,” said another customer.
