GUWAHATI: A seminar on the 'Rehabilitation Approach for Children with Disabilities was organized at Rehabari, Guwahati.

The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Chennai, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, organized the seminar in collaboration with Touch of Humanity.

Dr Sunil Kumar, the guest of honour at the seminar, said, "Physiotherapy is very common nowadays, irrespective of age, among all professionals, including sportspersons. Apart from physiotherapy, occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy, vocational therapy, etc., are common. Even now, people's view toward children with multiple disabilities has much to change. The government needs to give importance to such children as there are many advanced technology and treatment facilities nowadays."

Also present at the seminar were Physiotherapist Dipjyoti Sarma, Touch of Humanity president Hirakjyoti Bora and others.
