Pickpockets on the prowl at Ambubachi Mela!

GUWAHATI: Not all who throng the Kamakhya temple atop the Nilachal Hill during the Ambubachi Mela are devotees and sadhus (saints)! Beware, some snatchers and pickpockets have seamlessly blended in with the crowd of devotees!

The security personnel deployed on the Kamakhya temple premises picked up a gang of six, including five women. All the six came to the Ambubachi Mela from outside Assam. The charges against them are that they indulge in snatching chains, wallets etc., from devotees.

The security personnel handed them over to the Jalukbari police. The gang is under interrogation.
