GUWAHATI: City-based poet Saikh Md Sabah Al Ahmed has got a rare opportunity to make the international society known about his creative works following the decision of Frequenze Poetiche, a magazine of international poetry, to translate and publish ten of his poems in its next issue.
Naples-based Italian writer and poet Giorgio Moio, who got fascinated withSaikh Md Sabah Al Ahmed genre of poems, after these were sent to him by another city-based poet Arunav Barua, recently informed Ahmed via an email that he would be glad to translate his poems into Italian and publish them in the January 2019 issue of Frequenze Poetiche.
Al Ahmed, a faculty of English and social science at Don Bosco School, Panbazar told The Sentinel that it was a moment of fulfillment and greatest satisfaction of inner self when he received the email on December 4 from Giorgio Moio. “I am the second poet (writing in English) from Asia and interestingly from Assam, after Arunav Barua, whose poems will have adorned the pages of Frequenze Poetiche,” an elated Ahmed said.
“The feeling that one’s poems have received international acclaim is in itself something to rejoice about for any verse maker. Around 10 of my poems will be translated for Frequenze Poetiche, which features some of the best Italian poems both from established and young poets,” Saikh Md Sabah Al Ahmed said.
