GUWAHATI: The Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees, Engineers and Pensioners announced on Monday that it will extend support to the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad's (SAKP) agitational programme of observing a 'Black Day' on February 1, seeking the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Announcing this on Monday, the Association's joint convenor Dipak Kumar Saha said that the State Government should hold discussions in a democratic spirit and resolve the issue regarding the demand for scrapping of the National Pension System (NPS) and restoration of the OPS.
It may be recalled that SAKP president Dwipen Sarma had told the media recently that the NPS was implemented in Assam in 2005, but it failed to protect the interest of employees and pensioners due to the Government's negligent attitude.
