GUWAHATI: Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA) on Saturday expressed their disappointment against the State budget 2020-21. The Divyangjan organization stated that the budget is against the benefit of the specially-abled people and it is trying to divide the community.
PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar said that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is trying to create a ‘vote-bank’ through the budget. “Under the Deendayal Divyangjan Pension scheme, Rs. 250 crore was allotted in the year 2018-19. The amount was reduced to Rs. 200 crore in the year 2019-20 and Rs. 165 crore this year. This shows that the government’s discriminatory attitude towards the community”, Malakar asserted. “In this budget, the government has announced to construct a technical educational institute. However, in the earlier budget, there was an announcement to construct a special university for the Divyangjan but the project was never implemented”, he added. Further, PSSA appealed to the government to readdress the issues of the Divyangjan community in the budget.
