Principal's wife grilled in a sexual-harassment case

GUWAHATI: The Principal in-charge of a college in Guwahati has been sent to the jail by the CJM (Chief Judicial Magistrate) Court on Monday on the charge of sexual harassment to his daughter. The police also served a notice to his wife for alleged mental harassment on her daughter.

In this regard, the police on Tuesday interrogated the accused Principal's wife.

According to the police, personnel from the All-Women Police Station at Panbazar here arrested the principal-in-charge from his Birubari residence here on December 6. On November 30, 2020 his daughter had lodged an FIR at the police station stating that her father had been sexually harassing her from 2004 to 2011. After that, both her father and mother, who is a Deputy Secretary of Higher Education Department, had been harassing her physically and mentally, the FIR said.

The police registered a case (185/20 u/s 354/352/506/294 and added Section 376 of IPC) in that connection.
