Professor’s atrocious FB status against Jammu and Kashmir martyrs

GUWAHATI: An Assistant Professor of a private city college posted an FB status on Friday demeaning the martyred soldiers in the Jammu and Kashmir attack. The cyber tyrant is one Papri Banerjee who claimed that the martyrs cannot be termed such as they did not die in battle and went on to rant about the atrocities of CRPF upon civilians and called it “karma”. She ended her status with the words, “Karma is Indic, very Sanatana Dharma concept.. Go chew on that.”

The appalling status infuriated any who read it and soon enough, she started receiving death threats. Moreover, she was also suspended from her post as a professor and Principal incharge of the institute, Dr Nilanjan Bhattacharjee said, “The governing body has suspended her for an indefinite period.”

Banerjee is under police investigation and upon being questioned, she asserted that she wrote the status based on her own belief and stands firm by it. Both Crime Branch and Chandmari police are interrogating the professor. It is worth mentioning that Assam police upon news of the FB status by Banerjee, tweeted on February 15, “Thank you for bringing this into our notice. It will be looked at and appropriate action taken.”
