Programme On Child Protection By Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) was constituted under section 17 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005 through a Government of Assam notification dated March 4, 2010. Since its inception, the commission has been proactively engaged with a range of activities to ensure protection of child rights as mandated in the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005.

The Commission would celebrate the Child Protection Day on March 4, 2019 at Srimanta Shankardev International Auditorium, Panjabari, Guwahati. The celebration would encompass performances by the participating children. This will be followed by Cultural Event from 3pm to 5:15 pm wherein the children from various schools and rehabilitation homes will perform cultural programmes and winners will be awarded certificate of appreciation and a trophy.

Grand Celebration of the Establishment Day of the Commission and the Child Protection Day on 4th March 2019: The RMSA would nominate 800 students from across the state (as per the below mentioned details) to participate in the Grand Celebration which will be held at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium, Panjabari Guwahati on 4th March 2018. The ASCPCR will arrange for pickup and drop facility for the students coming from the nearby districts. For the students coming from far off districts, ASCPCR would provide for train tickets on reimbursement and also arrange for accommodation.

The activities on 4th March will consist of the Presentation of Charter and Cultural Programme. The Commission since 2017 has worked with special focus on combating child trafficking and thus has organized 5 Zonal level consultations on child trafficking which culminated into a State Level Consultation on Combating Child Trafficking and ensuring rights of the survivors. Thus the Commission has worked with the survivors of child trafficking and has come up with a Charter of Survivors of Child Trafficking.
