GUWAHATI: Several political parties of Assam came together in Guwahati on Thursday to stage protest against the move to privatize Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).

Hundreds of protesters from political parties, including Indian National Congress (INC), AsomJatiyaParishad (AJP), AnchalikGanaMorcha, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), AamAdmi Party (AAP), RashtriyaJanata Dal (RJD), AsomSangrami Mancha (ASM), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI) and others demonstrated in front of BijuliBhawan at Paltan Bazar here.

On the other hand, the front gate of BijuliBhawan was closed besides the deployment of security personnel.

RajyaSabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan said, "Not only the APDCL, the government is trying to privatize all departments of Electricity and other public sector enterprises across the country."
