Pubali Path residents facing harrowing time

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 23: Residents of Pubali Path are suffering for the past six months, in the absence of a road. The 400-meter road is totally broken and has been under construction for the past six months. Situated near Hayat Hospital, there are close to 60 families who reside at Pubali Path. As there is almost no space for the residents to walk, the elderly and children have been worst sufferers. The residents blame the contractor for the negligence in completing the work.

Emergency services like ambulances and fire tenders cannot enter the lane, the residents complain. Further, the situation becomes worse when it rains when the entire stretch of road gets submerged.

“There have been several accidents where people have slipped and fallen in the midst of mud and sludge. One elderly lady suffered a fracture while crossing the road,” said Binita Sarmah, a student and resident of Pubali Path.
