Rafale Deal: BJP Protests Congress’ ‘False Campaign’

GUWAHATI: The Assam BJP leaders and workers on Wednesday took out a protest march in the city to gherao Rajiv Bhawan, the Congress headquarters, and vent their anger against the Opposition party particularly Rahul Gandhi for not accepting the Supreme Court’s recent verdict that did not see any irregularity in the Rafale deal.

The procession was part of the BJP’s nationwide stir on the same issue. State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass led the procession in the city and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for misleading the nation on Rafale deal. He also demanded Gandhi’s resignation from the post of MP for allegedly giving irresponsible statements on the defence deal.

The procession which was prevented in the midway by the police and administration caused massive traffic congestion in the city particularly on busy GS Road. The Assam Congress leaders and workers also staged a protest at Rajiv Bhawan and accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of misleading the Supreme Court on Rafale deal. The Congress also demanded a JPC probe into the defence deal.

The State BJP later submitted a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind through DC of Kamrup Metro on the issue.
