GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal (RD) vice president Rasel Hussain has withdrawn his candidature from Barkhetry constituency in favour of AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad) candidate Pulakesh Baruah.
Following his withdrawal, Hussain appealed to RD workers in Barkhetry to extend their support to Baruah. In this regard, both Hussain and Baruah addressed a press meet here on Wednesday. "The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) will be benefited if both the regional parties contest against each other in Barkhetry. Due to this, I withdrew my candidature. The RD and the AJP will contest in the polls to safeguard Assamese nationality," said Hussain. Hussain stressed that both the parties are determined to root out the BJP in the forthcoming polls.
