GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal's President and MLA of Sivasagar constituency Akhil Gogoi took oath as a MLA of 15th Assam Legislative Assembly.

The oath was administered by pro-tem speaker Phani Bhushan Choudhury.

Gogoi was brought to the Assembly House by security personnel under tight security in the early hours of the day.

It is to be mentioned here that the Sivasagar MLA was bought to the Assembly from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in a bus and was taken back to the hospital later in the day after the oath taking ceremony.

Further Gogoi showed his displeasure on the way he was bought to the Assembly from hospital without following any COVID protocol and alleged that he was misbehaved and was pushed from behind.

"The way I was bought to the Assembly, it's a disrespect to the Assamese community...the government can kill me but can't stop my voice," said the jailed MLA while interacting with reporters.

Gogoi also vowed to work for the development of the Sivasagar constituency and would not let it stop.

Meanwhile, Gogoi also informed the entire incident to the Chief Minister of Assam.

Congratulating the new Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Gogoi urged that he may be allowed to attend the remaining two days of the Assam Assembly and appealed Daimary to give in a written consent to the Court so that he is allowed to attain the reaming days of the sessions.

Daimary said that he will look into the matter and after due consultation, Gogoi will be informed on its decision.
