GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway, on getting information, raided two shops/agencies in two different locations during last few days to check illegal sale of railway tickets, stated a press release. The RPF recovered 50 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 91,000 on February 14 and February 15 during the drive. One tout managed to escape and the other two touts were apprehended. The apprehended persons were prosecuted under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

In the first incident on February 14, the Inspector, CIB, New Jalpaiguri of RPF conducted a decoy check on the basis of a written complaint regarding touting activities in a shop/agency named 'Maa Tara Tour and Travels', situated at Daspara. During the course of raid, they recovered 3 live e-tickets worth Rs 4,319 and 21 past e-tickets worth Rs 76,486. Electronic items, records and Rs 2,500 in cash were also seized during the raid. But the shop owner managed to run away.

In the other incident on February 15, information was received regarding touting activities by one shop namely, 'NA Telecom', located at Station road, Ranipatra, Purnea (Bihar). RPF staff of Purnea, with the assistance of local police, conducted a raid in the said shop. During the raid they recovered 2 live Railway e-tickets worth Rs 264 and 24 past e-tickets worth Rs 10,426.
