Rajya Rani Express To Be Upgraded Under Project Utkrisht

GUWAHATI: Rajya Rani Express running between Alipurduar Jn and Silghat became the first intercity express train of North East Frontier Railway to be fully provided with modified features and amenities under “Project Utkrisht”. The upgraded train number 15417 / 15418 Rajya Rani Express which runs in Alipurduar Jn – Dhubri – Silghat route covers the total distance of 558.42 km in 17 hours and has 29 stoppages during its journey. The upgraded train was flagged off by Sadhan Routh, a Grade –IV employee who will be retiring on 28th February in presence of Divisional Railway Manager of Alipurduar Division Chandra Vir Raman and other senior officials from Alipurduar on February 9.

As per a press release, under the project Utkrisht, all coaches of the revamped rakes have been fitted with ‘Swachh Rail Toilet’, which not only reduces water consumption while flushing but also ensures that the stench is minimal. The new toilets have various advantages like – no choking, quick discharge to the bio toilet tank, complete sealing of odour, garbage bags in toilet etc. All AC coaches are also be provided with the new features like LED panel lighting, new types of bottle holders, braille signage, night glow stickers, new types of fire extinguishers etc.
